Oral Health While Traveling

premier • September 28, 2020

Oral health should be a top priority, no matter where you are. Some travel for work and others for fun; regardless, it’s vital to take care of your teeth on the go. Here are three simple things to try so you can care for your oral health while traveling.

Packing

When you’re packing, you need to remember to bring along things for your dental health routine. Be sure to include your toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash. If you have an electric toothbrush you don’t want to bring along, opt for a regular toothbrush. Most dental toiletries will not fit if they are of standard size. Instead, go for the travel size supplies, so you know everything will fit. Also, travel-size toiletries are typically under TSA’s required carry on size. When you pack your toiletries, make sure they are in a travel case and easily accessible.

Routine

When you’re on the go, sometimes it’s hard to stay on a routine. We understand that some patterns will fall to the wayside when you’re traveling, but we encourage you to stay strict with your oral health routine. It’s essential to brush your teeth twice a day, no matter where you are. You should also strive to floss once a day as well. By sticking to your regular dental routine, you’re ensuring your teeth will stay healthy. Traveling is one of the easiest excuses not to follow your routine, but don’t let that happen!

One of the best things you can do for yourself while traveling is caring for your teeth. You should always check in with your dentist every six months to ensure your teeth are happy and healthy. If you know you’ll be out of town for extended periods, schedule a check-up with your dentist before you go. This way, you know you’re in tip-top shape before you leave.
