When both the root and the crown of the tooth need replacement, prosthodontists create metal posts. The posts act as a sturdier alternative to standard crowns. They then fuse the post to the jawbone.

Bridges – Crowns attach to healthy teeth on either side of your mouth, also known as “abutment teeth”. They act as a literal bridge to support the crowns for the missing teeth between the abutment teeth.
